Controlled impedance: what the fabricator needs

Controlled impedance is a relationship between geometry, dielectric properties, copper thickness and reference-plane arrangement. A target value alone is not enough for a dependable production review.

Confirm before release

  • Target impedance and tolerance for each controlled structure.
  • Trace layer, reference plane and single-ended or differential definition.
  • Finished copper, dielectric thickness and permitted material alternatives.
  • Coupon, test frequency and reporting expectations.
